Self-care and skin-care go hand in hand
“Self-care” — two small words with a humongous meaning, and honestly, two of the most important there are when it comes to your health and wellbeing. “Skin-care” is another two, and the pair go hand in hand, because one really does depend on the other.
Here's something worth knowing: your skin is the largest organ in your body. Yes — an actual organ, just like your heart or your brain. And like them, it depends on good nutrition, minimal stress, decent sleep and a bit of movement to do its job well. You'll have noticed it yourself — when life gets out of balance, your skin tends to act up: a rash, a few spots, a rosacea flare. But don't worry. A few small changes are usually all it takes to get both your skin and your general health back on track.
Start with a simple routine
First and foremost, set yourself a good skincare routine. In the morning: cleanse, then a toner to refresh and tighten your pores, a multivitamin serum to feed your skin its essential nutrients, and a moisturiser. That's you set for the day — and it takes less than five minutes.
At night: a double cleanse, then tone, then your nightly treatment — a multivitamin serum or a multivitamin cream. As you sleep, your skin gets the chance to drink in everything you've fed it, and to heal and repair. I promise you, once you start, you won't look back.
Then look after it from the inside
Add some hydration — start drinking water, whether you're at your desk all day or out and about, and make a habit of bringing a bottle with you. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables too; they're full of the essential fatty acids your skin needs for a healthy glow.
And finally, move a little. Walking is a wonderful place to start — it's good for your body, lovely for your mental health, and it helps your lymphatic drainage and blood flow, both of which your skin adores.
That's the whole recipe, really: a healthy body, a healthy mind and healthy skin, all tied together. It's down to you to build the new habits — so start breathing deeply, drinking your water, and feeling good. 🤍
